TESTIMONIALS

Janet K., Parent of a son, Irvington HS (NY), Class of 2025, attending the University of Cincinnati (undecided), Class of 2029

“Tanya worked with my son as his college advisor during the 2024-2025 school year, and we truly cannot recommend her highly enough. We found ourselves in an unusual situation, coming into the process much later than most—but Tanya stepped in seamlessly. Within just a week, it felt as though she had been part of our journey all along. From their very first meeting, Tanya connected with my son in a way that put him completely at ease. She is incredibly approachable and flexible, yet also confident and decisive when guidance is needed. Her ability to adapt her style to the student is remarkable; she met my son exactly where he was, providing steady support and structure without adding pressure.

Tanya’s depth of knowledge about the college admissions process is matched by her insight into the “unwritten rules” that can make all the difference. She worked one-on- one with my son every week, offering thoughtful and thorough feedback and keeping us all grounded and focused. Her clarity, warmth, and professionalism turned what could

have been an overwhelming experience into something manageable—even positive.

We are so grateful for her role in this process. Tanya brought not just expertise, but trust, encouragement, and a deep understanding of what students need to succeed.”

Mona S., Parent of a son, Irvington HS (NY) Class of 2025, attending College of William & Mary (government/international relations), Class of 2029

“Tanya worked with our son from spring of 11th grade all the way up until he decided which college he will be attending this fall. Between the initial phone call I had with Tanya in April 2024 until our son received his acceptance letter from his first-choice school, we had a ton of questions and concerns. I can honestly say that Tanya addressed all of them with her signature style of patience, professionalism and humor that made the stressful college application process so much less daunting. Her organized and detail-oriented approach left little room for error and kept things moving along smoothly and swiftly so we never felt "stuck" on any one part of the application process.

It was very refreshing to work with Tanya, who always stayed laser-focused on MY child and his strengths and goals. During the course of our weekly meetings, she really took the time to get to know our son/family. We appreciated her gentle, but firm guidance in giving our son the space to come up with his own ideas about his initial college list and she offered additional suggestions when we asked for them. She answered every text, email and phone call during the process and we never felt rushed for her time.

I would highly recommend Tanya as a college application coach at whatever stage your student needs help. Our son is thrilled that he will be attending his favorite school and we are so thankful to Tanya for her assistance every step of the way!”

Maren P., Irvington HS, (NY) Class of 2024, McGill University, Class of 2028 (environmental biology)

"Tanya Hunt is the absolute best in the biz. Not only is she incredibly knowledgeable about all facets of the college application process, she makes it feel fun (or about as fun as applying to college can be). I applied to schools on the Common App, the UC system, and an international school. Tanya expertly guided me through all types of applications. When I was feeling overwhelmed and/or stressed, she knew exactly how to help me figure out which tasks needed to be completed. I’m someone who constantly procrastinates, and Tanya really helped me stay on target without making me dread deadlines. I truly cannot recommend her enough, especially if you’re new to the college application process and feel lost. She is THE expert and will make the entire process a whole lot easier."

Courtney G., Parent of a son, Irvington HS (NY) Class of 2024, attending Bucknell University (finance), Class of 2028

"Tanya worked with my son as his college advisor in the 2023-2024 school year. Tanya was an invaluable partner to all of us. She not only worked with my son but also with my husband and me as he is our first child going to college. We had many questions about the process and the best approach to begin the college search.

Tanya connected quickly with my son and put him at ease with every meeting. She is extremely approachable and flexible, but also firm with a decisive opinion. Tanya immediately earned our trust with not only her industry knowledge, but also her keen sensibility of the “unwritten rules'' of the college application process.

Tanya’s process is organized and easy to follow with a very curated approach that speaks to both the child’s and parents’ needs. Outside of regular meetings throughout the experience, Tanya was always available for questions, concerns and updates. It's a very exciting, and at times, a stressful process. Tanya takes the stress out and really allows your child to focus on what is most important.

My second son is about to enter 9th grade and we already secured a spot for him with Tanya."

Emma F., Irvington HS, (NY) Class of 2024, University of Wisconsin, Class of 2028 (political science, international studies - College of Letters & Science Honors Program)

"I was fortunate to work with Tanya throughout my entire college admissions process and can confidently say that she was the reason I was so successful in my admissions. She provided valuable insight on my list of schools, from start to end, and on my variety of essays and supplements. I believe that Tanya is excellent at helping to position students to appear their best to potential colleges. The process of working with her was smooth and simple, I knew exactly what I needed to do, and when I needed to do it. She offered advice that was beyond helpful in my college search, and allowed me to end up completely satisfied with my college decision."

Eric K., Parent of a son, Irvington HS (NY) Class of 2024, attending State University of New York – Cortland (early childhood education), Class of 2028

"Our family approached Jack's upcoming college application process with a mix of hopeful optimism and great dread. As parents, we had no experience in the process of selecting and applying to colleges, other than our limited memories of our applications decades ago.

Tanya was nothing short of a godsend. She was the best combination of an experienced professional, a thoughtful guide for our son and a little bit of a therapist for all of us. The long and short of it is that Jack was accepted to every school he applied to - a wide range of safeties to reaches - and, most importantly, he couldn't have been happier. We are extremely grateful and would recommend Tanya to anyone with family looking for college advice and assistance."

Pat H., Parent of a daughter, Irvington HS (NY) Class of 2024, attending Loyola Marymount University (dance), Class of 2028

"Tanya was a blessing throughout the college admissions journey. We appreciated her patience and diligence in sticking to an established timeline. She started meeting with my youngest daughter at the beginning of her junior year and developed a plan to identify schools that would meet her objectives. Tanya worked with my daughter to define and articulate those objectives. She is an incredible resource for parents during what can be an overwhelming process. My daughter lost her mother in the spring of her junior year, and Tanya’s empathy allowed my daughter to continue to work on identifying and applying to the right schools through a difficult time. We are indebted to Tanya and thankful my daughter will be attending Loyola Marymount University in the fall."

Julie G., Parent of a son, Irvington HS (NY) Class of 2024, attending University of Colorado - Boulder (advertising), Class of 2028

“I hired Tanya as soon as I could to help me navigate the college choice and application process. With working full time and maintaining a household solo, the thought of tackling everything needed for the college effort was simply overwhelming for me. Tanya immediately understood my needs, immediately bonded with my son and empowered him to do his own research and take responsibility for the tasks that were his. She guided us with both data and emotional intelligence and made it all possible for him to gain acceptance to his number one choice. She caters her research to the student in front of her—and does not rely on cookie-cutter suggestions or suggestions that are not appropriate for that student. Think of her as a therapist, an outside force, who can help you focus your energies on what’s needed in a step-by-step way. She kept us both on track and was on hand for emergency outreaches. Having her on our team was crucial, and the best decision I made through the entire process.”

Beth P., Parent of a daughter, Irvington HS (NY) Class of 2024, attending Boston University (communications), Class of 2028

"Sometimes it is better for parents to keep some healthy distance from their child’s college application process; maintaining that healthy distance is much easier when parents are able to rely on the support and guidance of a college advisor like Tanya Hunt. Tanya helped our child so much and in so many ways. She helped with resume creation, teaching our daughter to be confident and open-minded about how activities outside of school helped tell the story of why she was a great candidate, even identifying how to highlight those achievements on a college-by-college basis.

Tanya also used her broad and detailed knowledge to help our daughter expand her college choices, finding more "good fit" schools for her than we imagined was possible. She helped our daughter understand how to apply to specific programs at particular colleges/universities; feel confident in her own choices regarding Early Decision; and meet the differing requirements for both the "Common App" and the supplemental applications for a variety of schools.

It was Tanya’s presence that created the space for our daughter to work independently with an adult outside of the family, and she kept our daughter on target to reach all application benchmarks with plenty of time to spare. I think one of the best aspects of working with Tanya is her talent at guiding an adolescent through the essay writing process, while ensuring that the applicant’s true voice and personality comes through. Tanya provided the opportunity for us as parents, and our daughter as the actual applicant, to each strategize with her separately, so that ultimately the entire family was comfortable with all decisions made. Ultimately, it was Tanya’s professional help that has allowed all of us to feel confident that our daughter is now headed off in September to the best possible college for her!"

Adam R., Irvington HS, (NY) Class of 2023, Penn State University, Class of 2027 (journalism)

“I was so excited about the list of schools Tanya created for me! She took time to understand my priorities and never treated me like a kid. My college applications were a hundred times stronger than they would have been without her help. Our weekly meetings kept me focused on the end goal, and she was the first person I called when I was accepted to my top-choice college.”

Lynne P. and Chris R., Parents of a son, Irvington HS, (NY) Class of 2023, attending Penn State University, Class of 2027

“A friend told us, ‘Tanya will be your secret weapon,’ and she was right! Tanya demystified the college application process and supported us at every step. We asked a billion questions, and she answered every last one—promptly, thoroughly and patiently. Parents are hit with so much advice and “noise” at college-application time, but leaning on Tanya’s deep institutional knowledge allowed us to filter it all out, and saved us so much time and stress. We could not have imagined having a better partner for our son’s college journey.”

DeLauné M., Parent of a son, Irvington HS, (NY) Class of 2022, attending Lehigh University, (civil engineering), Class of 2026

"Tanya Hunt is a gift to students and their parents going through the college admissions process. She looks at every aspect of the student’s life and pulls them together through the resumé, application, and essays into a sparkling, brilliant narrative that tells the unique story of your child. Working with Tanya is like having Julia Child step into your kitchen, and take care of all of your meals. Relief and joy are immediate. Tanya is professional, warm, funny, thorough, flexible, and so knowledgeable that I wonder if she secretly worked in every admissions office in the country. Knowing her can-do, inexhaustible spirit, it wouldn't be surprising if she had. The biggest favor you can do for yourself and your child is to have Tanya at the helm during this most important time of life. And the best part is, she will make it a happy, fun (yes, really!), and enriching experience for all of you, especially your child."

Walter F., Irvington HS, (NY) Class of 2022, Lehigh University, Class of 2026 (civil engineering)

"I started working with Tanya mid-way through the college application process, and needless to say, the stress of completing applications was great at that point. During our first meeting though, I could see that she would strip the process of much of its infamous stress. We created plans of action for finishing applications and completing all other college process requirements. While writing my personal statement essay, she gave me invaluable advice which helped me refine my writing. She walked me through completing the Common App and helped me create a comprehensive and reflective resume. Throughout the whole process, she was a kind, helpful, constructive, and guiding presence, and would always get back to me in a timely manner when I had questions. And the best part is, I got into where I wanted to go!"
