More About Tanya Hunt

Tanya Hunt began working informally with clients in 2018. She became a certified college counselor in 2019 when she earned her College Counseling Certificate with Distinction from UCLA, the nation's most highly regarded college counseling certificate program. Tanya is a current associate member of the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA) and a member of the New York State Association for College Admission Counseling (NYSACAC). She frequently engages in ongoing professional learning opportunities to ensure she is up to date on the ever-evolving developments in college admissions and educational counseling.

Tanya was elected to serve three years on the Irvington, NY Board of Education and was president (two years) and trustee (one year). In addition, she was an elected volunteer for five years on the executive committee of the Irvington, NY Parent–Teacher–Student Association (PTSA), including one year as district-wide president.

During her communications, advocacy, and public relations career, Tanya has worked in several high-level positions: for a large K-12 Westchester, NY school district; a boutique public relations and marketing communications firm; a United States Senator and a United States Representative; and for a national professional medical association.

An avid volunteer, Tanya has also had leading roles in many organizations, including the Irvington About Safe Kids Coalition-Community Advisory Board (iASK-CAB) and the Hudson River Patriots Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR). She is a current member of the Village of Irvington's Recreation and Parks Advisory Committee (RPAC) and previously served as a member of the Irvington Diversity Foundation's Community Advisory Committee.

Tanya graduated from Indiana University – Bloomington with a double major (B.A.) in telecommunications and German and holds a Masters of Jurisprudence (M.J.) in health law from Loyola University Chicago School of Law. She has been happily married for more than 25 years and has two grown sons who were both accepted to several of their best-match colleges.
